Solid kiln-dried Floating shelves, At Period Oak Beams we manufacture from French, kiln/ air dried boards. Our boards start at 54mm thick and are planed down to a finished thickness of 45mm-50mm this process allows us to remove any bows or misshapen forms in the boards, do remember. However, these come from character grade boards, so there may be an odd small crack, knot, inconsistent grain-like pattern, and other slight natural imperfections associated with the character of oak boards.
Once we have planed and sanded, all the boards are given a slight contemporary round on the front, including the corners rounded off. As always you can have your choice of colours below. All of our shelves are supplied with Hafele floating brackets; all holes are machined into the rear of each shelf so fitting is easy and straightforward.
Also, we can make these to most sizes, so don’t hesitate to get in touch with us with any of your bespoke requirements. If you wish, we can also distress the front edges of your shelves in exactly the same as we do with our beams; all you have to do is let us know.
At Period Oak we also make and supply our shelves with the natural waney live edge on the front; we do this by carving off all loose bark to leave that natural rustic contours of the front edge still, but without any loose material.
